The Beulah Medical for Women

Our Beulah Executive Medical Assessment has been designed specifically for women and takes about three hours to complete.  There are six stages:

 

  • Meeting with a Goshen Nurse who will carry out a series of screening tests as listed below:
  1. Blood pressure, heart rate, weight, height and body mass index measurement.
  2. Urinalysis to check kidney function and for infection.
  3. Heart assessment (Resting ECG).
  4. Lung function test (Spirometry).
  5. Hearing test (Audiometry).
  6. Eye assessment to check visual acuity, near and far vision, screen for colour blindness and for glaucoma risks, where applicable.
  • Laboratory Tests
  1. An extensive blood screen that includes an assessment of cholesterol and glucose levels.
  2. Liver and kidney function, measurement of haemoglobin and iron levels, full blood count, bone profile and a screen for gout and haemochromatosis.
  3. Thyroid function test.
  4. Faecal Occult Blood test to screen for bowel/colon cancer. 
  • An hour-long consultation with a Goshen Physician that will include:
  1. Full physical examination and assessment of the body systems.
  2. Breast cancer awareness and breast self - examination techniques.
  3. Colorectal cancer awareness.
  4. Lifestyle Analysis and review of current diet and exercise regime.
  5. Cardiovascular disease risk assessment.
  6. Advice around lifestyle modification and stress management. 
  • A mammogram or breast ultrasound scan to screen for breast abnormalities. The choice of test will depend on your age and the applicable risk factors.  
  • Cervical smear test to screen for cervical cancer.

 

  • Additional tests; If indicated the following tests can be arranged at an additional cost with the relevant specialists:
  1. DEXA bone scan to screen for Osteoporosis – usually for those > 40 years of age.
  2. CT coronary angiogram to identify blockages, plaques or narrowing of the coronary arteries and vascular ultrasound imaging looking at blood flow through the organs and blood vessels to identify blockage or abnormalities.
  3. Echocardiogram to assess how well the heart is working or to look at how well the valves are moving inside the heart.
