The Carmel Medical for Men
Our Carmel Executive Medical is designed specifically for men of all ages and takes about three hours to complete. There are five stages:
- Meeting with a Goshen Nurse who will carry out a series of screening tests as listed below:
- Blood pressure, heart rate, weight, height and body mass index measurement.
- Urinalysis to check kidney function and for infection.
- Heart assessment (Resting ECG).
- Lung function test (Spirometry).
- Hearing test (Audiometry).
- Eye assessment to check visual acuity, near and far vision, screen for colour blindness and glaucoma risks, where applicable.
- Laboratory Tests
- An extensive blood screen that includes an assessment of cholesterol and glucose levels, liver and kidney function, measurement of haemoglobin and iron levels, full blood count, bone profile and a screen for gout and haemochromatosis.
- Thyroid function tests.
- Faecal Occult Blood test to screen for bowel/colon cancer.
- PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) levels to check for prostate abnormalities for men.
- An hour-long consultation with a Goshen Physician that will include:
- Full physical examination and assessment of the body systems.
- Testicular self - examination techniques.
- A discussion on Colorectal cancer awareness.
- Lifestyle Analysis and review of current diet and exercise regime.
- Cardiovascular disease risk assessment.
- Advice around lifestyle modification and stress management.
- Additional Tests; If indicated the following test can be arranged with the relevant specialist at an additional cost:
- Exercise ECG (Treadmill test).
- CT coronary angiogram to identify blockages, plaques or narrowing of the coronary arteries and vascular ultrasound imaging looking at blood flow through the organs and blood vessels to identify blockage or abnormalities.
- Echocardiogram to assess how well the heart is working or to look at how well the valves are moving inside the heart.
