The Clover Medical (Pre-Conception)

Our Clover Executive Medical Assessment has been designed specifically for women and their partners in preparation for conception and takes about three hours to complete.  There are five stages:

 

  • Meeting with a Goshen Nurse who will carry out a series of screening tests as listed below:
  1. Blood pressure, heart rate, weight, height and body mass index measurement.
  2. Urinalysis to check kidney function and for infection.
  3. Heart assessment (Resting ECG).
  4. Cervical screening smear test.
  • Laboratory Tests
  1. An extensive blood screen that includes an anaemia and haematological profile as well as an assessment of cholesterol and glucose levels.
  2. Blood Group and Genotype.
  3. Thyroid function test.
  4. Liver and kidney function, measurement of iron levels and a screen for gout and haemochromatosis.
  5. Infection screening (Chlamydia, HPV, HIV and Hepatitis profile).
  6. High vaginal swab for microscopy and culture.
  7. Seminal fluid analysis (for male partners).
  • An hour-long consultation with a Goshen Physician that will include:
  1. Full physical examination and assessment of the body systems.
  2. Breast cancer awareness and breast self-examination techniques.
  3. Lifestyle Analysis and review of current diet and exercise regime.
  4. Cardiovascular disease risk assessment.
  5. Advice around lifestyle modification and stress management. 
  • Other tests
  1. Hormonal profile
  2. Abdominal ultrasound scan.
